Agriculture Statistics

The DES is responsible for collection and analysis of primary data by way of conducting Crop Cutting Experiment of 13 crops of the State namely winter paddy, autumn paddy, spring paddy, jhum paddy, ginger, wheat, maize, turmeric, winter potato, summer potato, cotton, rapeseed & mustard and jute. The methodology developed by the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI),Pusa, New Delhi is adopted for the conducting the Crop Cutting Experiments of different crops.

The DES compiles the State/District level Crop Report on Rabi & Kharif crops and Vegetable Statistics. The State level crop Report is approved by the State level crop committee while the District level Crop report is approved by the District Crop Statistics Committee. The State level Reports are furnished to the DES, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Govt of India. The Reports are compiled based on the consolidated data as furnished by the concerned Departments. The DES also compiles other statistics such as land utilisation statistics, irrigation statistics in consultation with the concerned state departments (approval of such reports is done by the State level crop report committee).
